The River Trent: The images in this grid below form a selection taken of the Cottam Power Stations. The larger one with four 500MW turbines was closed in 2019 and demolition of the main turbine hall has now commenced (2023). The main chimney which is 625ft tall along with the eight cooling towers are expected to be demolished in 2025. A smaller gas-fired power station, the Cottam Development Centre, has been built alongside. The coal-fired power station required about 25 million gallons of water per day which was extracted from the River Trent.
